Jesus is about to quote Moses but He doesn’t say, “did you read what Moses said.” The Word of God is not past-tense. It’s applicable to us today. Jesus said ” surely you have read WHAT GOD SAID TO YOU…” The Word of God is not a story of the past, it is what God is saying to you directly.
